Road Trip Update

Well, unfortunately it looks like the trip to Abbeville has to be postponed for now, folks.  My sister is getting married this summer and living relatives take precedence over dead ones! I'll keep you posted on the new plan as soon as I have one!

In the meantime, research continues! I'm now looking into the Baskin family's slaves and trying to see if we can make a connection with the African American Baskin families out there.  I also hope to get some DNA testing done soon, assuming I have the money for it.  Please let me know if any of you have information that can help with the slave research and/or would be interested in doing a DNA test.

  1. I'm African-American.
I have BASKIN in my tree....connected in multiple ways to BASKIN family (African-American and Caucasian families)

    Also...................
My great grandmother was mixed heritage.
Her half-sister married a BASKIN (Christopher Columbus Baskin) as well. Christopher's father is William Sterling BASKIN

Recently received AncestryDNA results and have talked to newly discovered cousin --- a member of the HUNTER family ( ancestor emigrated from England in 17th Century). We determined the connection is through my great grandmother.

Looking forward to collaborating with you.

  2. Hi- 5 years late, but just seeing this as I was researching the Baskin surname. I am an African-American descendent of Isabelle Baskin who married into the Granberry family. They lived in Raymond, Hinds, MS. Their son had relations with African-American and my great-grandmother was born. Thanks. Jean M.
